Just read with interest the article in today's Times. I read the article with particle interest because I've been having a problem with a feisty squirrel for a couple of years. I was hoping you may have a suggestion on how to deal with this critter. I live in the Hollywood Hills and on my deck I have a meyer lemon tree. When the lemons get very ripe the squirrel bounds up the stairway to our deck and eats the lemons mostly at night. The same is true with our tomatoes. I have to pick them before they're fully ripe otherwise I'll lose them. I've tried to trap the squirrel to move it to Griffith Park nearby to no avail. It seems oblivious to anything I use as bait, including peanuts, peanut butter and apples.
I've looked on the web for assistance to disinterest the squirrel, but haven't found anything helpful.
Looks to me like you're having fun. I'm certainly fascinated by your research. Good luck.
Barton, thanks for the kind words! I've found that squirrels like to take one bite of each piece of fruit before deciding they don't like it! They are certainly persistent and hard to move...he's got it too good in your yard 😉
